Everyone around us, seems to be a lie
Constant deception, no one knows why
To be sincere -and- to say what we mean
It will never happen, it's all just a dream
Professed by many, practiced by few
And in the end the line starts with you
It's a vicious cycle, from start until end
It's creating a rift that even time can't mend
We lie to ourselves, nothing is wrong
-This- has been going on, for far too long
We've stretched the truth, as if it's on a rack
Can't you see the signs? There's no turning back
What began long ago, continues today
From politicians to preachers, they don't mean what they say
It's a vicious cycle, from start until end
It's creating a rift that even time can't mend
So what's going to happen? Is everything lost?
-And- if that's really the case, what was the final cost?
In all of our hearts, we know the price we've paid
If life were a question, the answer'd be vague
Like life itself, a lie is not free
Look into the future, do you like what you see...
