Metal Gear SolidPlaystation8/10

If you ever played games on the SuperNintendo, then you are probably already familiar with Metal Gear, and although the graphics have changed dramatically, the gameplay remains much the same. You play Solid Snake, a genetically enhanced super soldier who must infiltrate a complex in Alaska which was taken over by terrorist. The game is not your standard run around and shoot anything that moves, actually quite the contrary, you need to be very careful to avoid that kind of activity.

This game is great! Definitely one of the games that helps to redefine a genre, much as Tomb Raider originally did to the action category, this game takes it one step further. With a very involving plot, and more of a 'cinematic' feel than any other game I've played (to the point that it even shows the badguys names in the corner with who plays them, like movie credits). Another part of the game that stand out from the rest in the ingenious way they incorporated realworld interactions with the game; for example, you fight one badguy who is psychic, and can read you mind. Because of this, he always knows what you're going to do before you... How can you defeat someone like this, you ask? Simple, he can only read your mind, if it's plugged into control port 1, so just plug your controller into port 2, and wala, he can't read your mind! VERY VERY VERY cool, they don't bother coming up with some BS convoluted context for how the control port is really a super device developed by Q over at 007's headquarters; you're playing a game, it's in a game system, it's that simple, and it doesn't detract from the title in the slightest. The flow of the game is very good, with only one part which I felt was repetitive (the big boss battle). For anyone out there who enjoys action/strategy games, and has a PSX, pick this bad boy up. I completed this game in about 11 hours...
