Rush Hour7/10

I only have one thing to say; Jackie Chan! This movie starts off taking place in China, although it quickly moves to LA, where Chan (a Hong Kong cop) teams up with an Chris Tucker (a LA cop) in order to help find a Chinese ambassador's daughter who has been kidnapped. Your standard action mayhem ensues, to ensure 90 minutes of entertainment. The movie is filled with the great blend of martial arts and comedy that is Jackie Chan's trademark, and is primarily about these two cops learning to appreciate oneanother, find the girl, stop some terrorist, save fight around ancient Chinese artwork.

I admit that I'm a Jackie Chan fan, having seen all of his domestic releases and quite a few of his Hong Kong releases as well, so I am biased in that respect. Now Chris Tucker is a different story... I have enjoyed his standup routines, and I liked his performance in 5th Element for about 6 minutes before I was ready to throttle the guy (GOD I hate that voice (he was the TV talkshow music guy, very annoying)). I was very concerned that I would be bothered by his voice (you know what I mean), in this movie, so I went in with medium expectations, and was very pleased! I must say that Chris Tucker did a good job in this film, and the interaction between him and Jackie felt very genuine and quite a bit of fun. The storyline is nothing spectacular, but it does have some fun twists in it, but that's not what you go to this kind of movie for; no, you go to this kind of movie for the fighting, and they definitely don't disappoint in that regard either. Now I feel compelled to say that I would not recommend dragging your girlfriend to this (unless SHE suggests it), since it really doesn't even have the normal token romance that they throw haphazardly into most action flicks. Overall a very good film.
